Why Use the Flat Plan? #

Planning your next issue just got easier. The MediaOS Flat Plan gives you a visual overview of your publication’s layout, allowing you to map out ads, editorial content, and page order all in one place. Whether you're starting from scratch or building off a previous layout, the Flat Plan helps streamline your workflow, reduce production errors, and keep your publishing schedule on track.

Opening the Flat Plan Tool #

To access the Flat Plan, navigate to the Delivery tab from the main navigation menu. At the top of the screen, click on the Flat Plan tab to launch the planning workspace. From here, choose the product you'd like to work on. Once selected, use the dropdown menu to pick the specific issue you're planning—this will load the corresponding flat plan view.

Building or Copying a Flat Plan #

Once you’ve selected your issue, you’ll decide whether to create a new layout or duplicate a previous one. If it’s your first time working on this issue, you’ll be prompted to enter the total number of pages you want the flat plan to contain. This step sets the framework for your layout.

If you’ve created flat plans in the past, MediaOS gives you the option to copy a layout from a previous issue. This saves time and ensures layout consistency, especially for recurring formats or publications with standard editorial structures.

Once the structure is in place, you can begin placing ads, content, and filler pages throughout the flat plan. Drag-and-drop functionality makes it easy to reorder pages, adjust placements, and visually confirm where each piece of content will appear.
