Visually arrange your publication layout by placing ads and editorial content directly onto the flat plan, page by page.
Why Use the Flat Plan for Placement? #
The MediaOS Flat Plan provides a visual, drag-and-drop environment that allows you to map out the entire structure of your print publication. Whether you're working with purchased ad placements or editorial content, this tool ensures every page is accounted for and organized in a way that matches your creative vision and revenue goals. You can place ads with precision and expand content across multiple pages—all while seeing the bigger picture of your issue layout.
Placing an Ad in the Flat Plan #
To place an ad, begin by opening the Ads tab from the right-hand panel of the Flat Plan screen. Select the ad you want to place, then click the Place button. Your mouse cursor will change to match the dimensions of the selected ad, making it easier to visualize how it will appear on the page.
Click on the page where you’d like to drop the ad. Once placed, you can reposition the ad at any time by dragging it to a different spot on the same page or to an entirely different page. This flexibility ensures that placements can be quickly adjusted to accommodate editorial flow or design updates.
Placing Content in the Flat Plan #
Placing content follows a similar process to placing ads, but with an important difference: editorial pieces can span across multiple pages. To get started, open the Content tab in the right-hand panel and click the Place button. This activates the placement mode.
Next, draw the areas of the publication where you’d like the content to appear. As you assign space, you’ll see a progress bar that reflects the total percentage of content that has been placed so far. This is especially helpful when working with longer articles that require multiple pages.
If you need to pause your work, click the Stop Placing Editorial button. This exits placement mode without removing any content you've already assigned. You can resume placing the remaining content at any time by re-entering the placement mode.
