If you're selling magazines, newsletters, or any product tied to a scheduled release, you'll need to manage issues in MediaOS. Each issue includes key publishing dates that impact how insertions are sold, billed, and delivered. With flexible tools for adding, editing, and scheduling issues, you can keep your publishing calendar organized and your sales team aligned.
Accessing Issues #
Issue-based products in MediaOS require you to manually manage a list of editions, allowing you to control publication schedules, deadlines, and invoicing dates. You can access and edit these issues directly from the product details page.
To find your issue list, start by clicking Products in the left-hand navigation menu. Next, click Manage next to the issue-based product you want to configure, then select the Issues tab to view all upcoming and past editions. Each issue displays important scheduling fields: the Sell By Date, which is the final day ads can be sold into that issue and can be adjusted if the selling window needs to be extended; the Press Date, which marks when the issue is sent to print or considered complete; and the Release Date, which is the public street date and also determines when invoicing is triggered.
Tip: Click Edit next to any issue to change its dates or details. If no line items have been sold into that issue, you’ll also see a Delete button.
Adding a Single Issue #
If you're managing a one-time publication or need to add an occasional edition outside of your regular schedule, MediaOS allows you to manually add a single issue directly from the product screen.
To create a new issue, click + New and select Add Issue. A pop-up window will appear prompting you to enter the necessary details. Start with the Issue Name, then input the Sell By Date, which determines the final day ads can be sold into the issue. Enter the Press Date—also referred to as the Delivery Complete Date—to indicate when the issue is finalized or sent to print. The Release Date defines the public street date and also determines when the invoice is generated. You also have the option to enter a Rate Multiplier to automatically increase pricing for premium issues and a Total Audience figure to reflect the estimated reach of the issue. Once all details are entered, click Save to finalize and add the new issue to your schedule.

Mass Adding Issues #
If you're managing a recurring publication, the Mass Add tool in MediaOS makes it easy to generate an entire year's worth of issues in one step—saving time and ensuring consistency in your publishing schedule.
To begin, click + New and select Mass Add. You’ll be prompted to enter several key details. Start by specifying the Issues Per Year, which tells the system how many editions you plan to publish annually. Then, input the First Release Date, which marks the mailing or public street date of your first issue. From there, define the Days Before Release to Stop Selling, which calculates each issue’s Sell By Date, and the Days Before Release to Send to Press, which determines the Press Date. Once all fields are filled in, click Preview Issue Schedule to generate a proposed publishing calendar that you can review and finalize.

You’ll be taken to a screen where you can name each issue and adjust any dates as needed.
Once everything looks right, click Create Issues to complete the setup.
Tip: Keeping your issue schedule accurate ensures that ad deadlines, billing, and publishing timelines stay aligned for your entire team.
