Managing Discount Approvals in MediaOS

Discount approvals in MediaOS give you control over how much flexibility your sales team has when offering price reductions to clients. By setting a discount threshold and enabling approval workflows, you ensure that all high-discount deals are reviewed and approved before contracts are finalized.

Setting the Discount Threshold and Enabling Approvals #

To begin configuring discount approvals, navigate to Settings > All Settings > General Settings. Under the Account section, locate the setting labeled Warn sales reps and notify sales manager of discounts exceeding: X%, and enter your desired discount threshold.

Next, scroll down to the Sales section and toggle Discounts Require Approval to ON. Once this is enabled, any proposal that exceeds the set discount threshold will require manager or admin approval before it can be converted to a contract.

How the Discount Approval Workflow Functions #

When a sales user creates a proposal with a discount that exceeds the defined threshold, several things will happen automatically. First, the Set to Won button will be hidden, preventing the user from converting the proposal to a contract. A red warning bar will appear at the top of the screen, alerting the user that the discount exceeds the allowable limit. A new option labeled Request Discount Approval will also appear.

After clicking Request Discount Approval, a notification will be sent to all users with Sales Manager or Administrator roles. These users will receive both an in-platform notification and an email alert indicating that a discount approval request has been submitted for a specific proposal.

The sales manager or administrator can click the notification to open the proposal directly. At the top of the proposal screen, a red bar will appear along with a green Approve Discount button. Once this button is clicked, the sales user will receive a confirmation via notification and email that the discount has been approved.

From there, the sales user can return to the proposal, where the Set to Won button will now be visible—allowing them to finalize the deal by converting the proposal into a contract.
