If you'd like to offset credit card processing costs, MediaOS gives you the option to automatically apply a convenience fee when customers pay through the online portal. This keeps your billing accurate and transparent while recovering a portion of processing fees.
What You Need to Know #
The convenience fee only applies to payments made via the online portal using a credit card. Once applied, the fee is automatically added to the invoice, and the total invoice amount is updated to reflect the additional charge.
How to Enable the Convenience Fee #
To enable a convenience fee for credit card payments, start by clicking your profile avatar in the bottom-left corner of your screen and selecting System Settings from the dropdown. From there, click General Settings and scroll to the Portal section. Locate the Credit Card Payment Convenience Fee field and enter the percentage you'd like to charge. Once this is set, any time a customer initiates a credit card payment through the online portal, a convenience fee line item will appear, the invoice total will automatically update to reflect the added fee, and the customer will see the adjustment before confirming their payment.
Note: This setting only impacts credit card payments through the portal—it does not apply to checks, ACH, or manual payments entered by your team.
