Use MediaOS Ad Server tools to deliver precisely targeted campaigns that maximize relevance, engagement, and return on investment for your advertisers.
Setting Up a Targeted Ad Campaign #
Once your ad server is successfully embedded into your site, you can begin selling targeted ads by navigating to the Sales tab in MediaOS. To create a new campaign, start by generating a New Contract Proposal. Within the proposal, you can specify the unit size, quantity, and other key details for the ad placement.
During setup, you can also target readers based on specific audience segments and other criteria. MediaOS provides a Get Audience Count button to give you a real-time estimate of the available audience inventory based on your targeting parameters. This helps you align expectations with your advertiser before finalizing any commitments.
You can control the unit size and date range for the ad by using the dialogue boxes located at the top of the proposal screen. One of the most powerful features of the MediaOS Ad Server is that you are not restricted to assigning specific ad units across all areas of your website. Instead, you can deploy generic ad units across various locations and then later fine-tune the targeting. This gives you flexibility to assign ads to specific pages, categories, tags, authors, or page types—all without needing to redeploy creative assets.
Note: To use the Reader Must Be feature, you must be fully utilizing the MediaOS Audience Member platform. This feature enables targeting or excluding specific audience groups based on registration data, behavior, or segmentation attributes.
Forecasting and Audience Inventory #
The Reader Must Be feature ties directly into Forecast Inventory. When you use this option, MediaOS will automatically assess your site’s traffic and project your available page impressions for upcoming campaigns. Forecast Inventory reports provide a breakdown of impressions across various dimensions, including device type, known vs. unknown users, and anticipated page traffic.
This data helps you make informed decisions about inventory availability for different placements and categories, ensuring that both you and your advertisers have clear expectations around reach and performance.
Finalizing the Sale #
After entering your targeting specifications and completing your item setup within the proposal, your campaign will be ready to go. MediaOS automatically loads the information into the ad server, syncing placements, targeting rules, and delivery settings in real time. With targeting fully configured and inventory forecasts in place, your ad campaign is positioned for maximum success.
