How to Ensure Business Names are Auto-Linked in the MediaOS Directory
As part of MediaOS's directory feature, we offer an automatic linking service that connects business names mentioned in articles or content directly to their profiles in our system. This helps increase visibility for the businesses listed in your directory. However, in order for the auto-linking feature to function correctly, there are specific guidelines that need to be followed.
Step One: Understand the Auto-Linking Feature
On a weekly basis, our system scans articles and other forms of content for mentions of businesses. When a business is mentioned, the system will automatically link the business name to its profile in the MediaOS directory. This auto-linking feature is designed to streamline the process of connecting users to your clients' business information.
Step 2: Ensure the Business name is Unique (Not a Dictionary Word)
- For the automatic linking to work, the business name must be unique and NOT a word that is commonly found in the dictionary. This helps to avoid confusion between regular words and actual business names. If a business name is a staneard dictionary word, it will not be linked
- Example of Non-Linkable business Name: A business called "Cake" will not be automatically linked because "Cake" is a common word found in the dictionary.
- Example of linkable business name: A business named "Sweet Treats Bakery" is eligible for auto-linking because it is a unique name.
Step Three: Maintain Proper Spacing Around the Business Name in Content
- In order for our system to recognize and link the business name, it must appear clearly in the content with spaces on either side of the name. This ensures that the name is treated as a distinct word and not part of another term.
Step Four: Monitor the Weekly Auto-Linking Reports:
- Each week, MediaOS will scan for eligible content and create links to the business profiles automatically. We recommend checking the auto-linking reports to ensure that the business listed in your directory are correctly linked.
- If a business name is not linked as expected, verify that the content containing the business name follows the proper format (e.g., the name is not a dictionary word, and proper spacing is maintained).
